Wet the Dry Campus continued...

As i stated before this is a battle that we as students could easily win if we put more effort into it.  I know that it is something that will be a struggle to obtain, but more or less the issue that people who are against it have is the fact that it is in a learning environment, which i will admit isnt truly a place for drinking but at the same time that is  binge drinking.  it is something that even if they allowed drinking on campus would probably happen, but at the same time it is a problem that in time would stop itself.  This is a difficult topic however to argue because once again my entire group is underage and not legal to drik or purchase alcohol.  This is another strong part on the dry campus side because of the fact that half the student body isnt of the drinknig age.  yet penalizing the entire student body isnt truly right.  This project continues to go on and get more and more challenging.

Topic for Socialgo.com

As for the topic of our site my group has chosen to write about why campuses should be wet and not dry.  We came up with the name of wetthedrycampus.socialgo.com.  Its a very snappy name but it gets the point across and is relevant to our topic.  We have decided to take this issue and try to get it solved by informing people on our website using the pentad idea that you had taught us in class.  I feel by far this is the most important thing that you have taught us in this class.  It showed me how to take me semi hopeless issue and bring it into a new light.  Making me realize that in fact the people who are against this dont really have as much going for them as it seems.  They struggle just as much, its simply the fact that some campuses are dry right now that they are winning this battle.  Its simple a power struggle of how alcohol has in fact ruined some things, but as a danger if we live with it, it will become less dangerous.  Really if you think about it someone will learn that oh man i got i na car accident drunk i shouldnt do that anymore.  Over time this is a technicality that fixes itself.

Learning about Socialgo.com

More or less this is similar to blogger except more Elaborate.  You can not only have blogson this but you have more or less an entire forum, well an ability to make one, a site, a home page, and everything that goes with it.  Just like blogger you can add videos, pictures, links, and songs to your messages and posts.  This makes it a versatile site.  Yet at the same time they limit this because they want you to pay for the site so they limit what you can do for a regular member of this site.  Even with this limitation there is a great deal of things to be learned on this site.

Final product

Well the site design that our group finished with was far superior to the original.  It went from one page to about 8.  Along with the new pages it got some very good linking and orginization.   All the links on the site work and actually go somewhere, and they all route back to each other.  So the bar on the side can get you to any part of the site that you need to get to.  Along with the new organization we have edited the background and pictures so that you dont get the spam of flashing pictures when you enter the site.  Although this may seeem liek a good idea at first thought because it would definately get someones attentino it isnt.  As it becomes annoying to people seeing something flashing at them, and it is also associated with spam because of all the pop ups that people get while browsing the internet these days.

We have organized our new site greatly and it seems to be going very well.  I truly feel that editing links on a site and simply organizing it could greatly increase a sites flow of people.  Seeing as people like to take things in an easy manor.  So the easier something is the better people will like it.  It is  a simple fact of life that the differece between two evenly tied competetors could be simply that one is more easily understood, therefore that person will get the business everytime without having to do as much.  While the other person would have to try much harder.  So by organizing a website better you can probably increase its "hits" by a lot.

Well for this first part of our project we had a difficult time finding a bad website.  It seems like it would be an extremely easy thing but we had to find a site that had a lot wrong with it, however this took us sometime.  yet we did eventually start to actually find what makes a bad site.  Not only must it have poor navigation, but poor organization and cluttering.  Most things that you would find when correcting a writting paper yu can compare to a site.  You want it easy to read flowing and well organized.

More on Wiki

Well as I stated before wiki has taught me a great deal about being honest more or less and straight forward.  It seems that all this site is as i said is facts.  It does not embelish anything or make it better than it is.  It gives the truth of the matter and that is all.  I have come to the comclusion that it is a fact that some places are small and boring to the masses so they are listed as so.  Yet it also tells how it is enjoyable to the minority of the situation at the same time.  While wiki has the link pages it could be worked on to make the process easier.  They dont really have alot of detail when you are adding a part to the page.  Such as a restuaraunt, drink, or food.  These fields are very interchangable because of the fact that they can be servered together in most areas.  Yet at the same time i have learned to differentiate between the two because of simple facts.  Like a bar is more known for drinks rather than the food that they also serve there.  I'm slowly adding onto this page and making it better.
